I’m in the process of ironing out the details of this exciting week-long culinary/adventure/writing retreat.
This is what I have so far:
April 12-19, 2027
I’ve booked a villa near Monopoli, about an hour from Bari.
The itinerary looks something like this:
Welcome circle with introductions & writing together
Roberto will be our adventure host, picking us up at the villa to take us to our daily adventures.
Day 1.
Breakfast at 7, writing prompts & single heat
11.00 – 14.30 – APULIAN COOKING CLASS WITH MAMMA MARIA and LUNCH IN TRULLI
Afternoon writing session before dinner 5-7 pm

Day 2.
Morning check in after breakfast
11.00 – 14.30 – FOCACCIA WORKSHOP, WINE TASTING & LUNCH
Writing session 5 – 7

Day 3.
12.00 – 15.00- THE SECRET GARDEN COOKING THERAPY, exclusive picnic with local food.
AFTERNOON- VISIT LOCOROTONDO
EVENING- DINNER (OCTOPUS PANINO & SANGRIA on the terrace)
Day 4.
9.45– 11.00-BURRATA & MOZZARELLA WORKSHOP AND CHEESE TASTING
Afternoon writing session 3-5
Day 5. 9.00 – 10.00 AM CORNETTO & CAPPUCCINO IN CASTELLANA GROTTE
11.00 – 15.00 VISIT MATERA AND TRADITIONAL LUNCH IN A LOCAL RESTAURANT IN ALTAMURA
19.00 – 21.30 IN A FISH RESTAURANT TYPICAL APULIAN DINNER
(5 lunches, 2 dinners, 1 breakfast)
Accommodation & facilitation: includes 1 dinner prepared on the final night by a local chef & all breakfasts
Includes: all writing sessions and one-on-one feedback with Susan on up to 10 pages of written work
Private: 2995 USD
Shared: 1995 USD each
Adventures with Robi: 995 Euros
There is potentially space for 8 guests if four people share 2 of the rooms. Otherwise, if everyone prefers private, the villa can accommodate 6. For every 2 rooms, there is a bathroom.
Not included: 1 lunch, 4 dinners
Transportation to and from the retreat
